Gan Qiao is a PhD candidate with School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics. His PhD is a sociolinguistic study of the Chinese community in Australia, which contributes to a better understanding of the intersection between gender, class, social network, and ethnicity in language use. His work addresses real-world problems about social cohesion and educational justice in multiethnic regions in China and Australia and has been published in System, Language Teaching Research, and Chinese Journal of Applied Linguistics.
