Senior Lecturer of Anthropology
Annika Lems is a Senior Lecturer in Anthropology at The Australian National University. Her research focuses on displacement, placemaking, belonging, and exclusionary practices. Her work encompasses the experiences of refugees in Melbourne and unaccompanied refugee youth in Swiss educational settings, shedding light on the complexities of belonging. Annika also investigates rural strongholds of exclusionary political movements, particularly in the Austrian Alps, to understand how alienation contributes to societal fragmentation and the politics of place.
