Dr Karo Moret Miranda
Lecturer in History
Karo Moret-Miranda is an Afro-Cuban historian and Lecturer in History at ANU, who specializes in African and African diaspora studies with a focus on race, religion, and gender. She explores the impact of African and Afro-Caribbean culture on Western thought and vice versa. Karo's interdisciplinary research examines how the slave trade and slavery influenced gender and religion in the Caribbean and Africa. Her doctoral research received funding from AGAUR Barcelona, and she collaborates with European institutions and museums while publishing articles and academic book chapters.
